Does 2b2t give out punishments or straight up ban people?
Getting banned on 2b2t

If you really think about it, the title really is confusing. How do you get punished or straight up banned on 2b2t, a server known for literally not having rules? Well, technically speaking, there are a number of bans that has been made by the admin and owner of 2b2t, Hausemaster, but there are also bans made by players who are able to build lag machines which are powerful redstone machines that causes the TPS (ticks per second) of the server to drop from 20 to near o. This causes the server to either slow down, freeze or in worst cases, crash. Today, we shall talk about EVERY punishment that can occur in 2b2t.

Type of Punishments that occur in 2b2t

Throughout 2b2t's time, theres been a number of punishments that have been given out by 2b2t's admin and owner, Hausemaster. These are extremely rare cases but when given out by Hause, can be very severe. Hausemaster only gives out these punishments either if:

  • You are exploiting 2b2t by creating big lag machines
  • You are trying to crash the server by sending a lot of packets to the server
  • You are directly trying to attack the server by Denial-of-service_attack, aka DDOS

There are also minor punishments that can be given out by Hause for either spamming or possibly being toxic around the server. The punishments that can be given based on the severity of the situation are:

Mutes:

  • Soft Mute: Unable to send chat messages. Also known as a "Soft Mute"
  • PM Mute: Unable to send private messages with commands like /msg, /w, /l, /t or any other commands that allow you to send private messages.
  • Hard Mute: Chat Mute & PM Mute. Unable to communicate through server chat at all.
  • Death message mute - Kills and Deaths that involve you will no longer send to chat.
  • Sign Mute - Unable to write anything on signs.

Bans

  • Hard Ban: Unable to join the game. Account gets disconnected instead of getting transferred to the game after waiting in queue. more info here: unknown
  • IP Ban: Similar to hard ban but you can join again if you change your IP.
  • Prio Ban: Priority queue is removed and player is unable to purchase it again from https://shop.2b2t.org/
  • Prio Strip: Priority queue is removed before it expires.
  • Blacklist: Getting IP banned frequently and having to change your IP every time you want to play.
  • PayPal Ban: if a player is PayPal banned, any account that was bought Prio with the player's PayPal account gets automatically prio banned.

Other

  • Bed Ban: Unable to set your respawn point using a bed and no matter how many times you sleep in it you won't respawn near it.

Punishments happen with no explanation from the server admins. It is normal for players to not know the reason why they received such punishments. Some punishments listed above can be temporary (days, months and sometimes years), and in some cases, these can be permanent. Prio stripping is an exception and is immediate, it may repeat if you get priority queue again

Player Bans

Although most of the bans are done by Hause, some players who want to reduce the player count in 2b2t for faster queue speed have also banned others through the use of sending too many packets or glitching out chunks in the world. This results in players being unable to join 2b2t even after queuing up for so long or even with Priority.
The most common bans that occur in 2b2t which are performed by players are:
- Chunk bans
- Book Bans
Within these 2 types of bans, there are several methods that can be done to prevent the targeted player from joining 2b2t

1) Chunk ban

Chunk ban, is an exploit whereby players are being constantly kicked out of the server for a fault regarding glitched chunks. It is typically blamed on collision corruptions or chunked-up chunks.

Advanced chunk bans include extra features such as making the affected player invincible to damage, crashing the server, or even removing the priority queue access of anyone who enters the chunk ban.

Methods of chunk ban

FPS Lag

Uses very simple machines, which exploit Minecraft's lighting mechanic. It is Patched when the NoRender module is turned on.

Signs

This is by far the most efficient method of chunk banning someone as it requires very few resources for it to work. Simply fill up the chunk you want to use as the chunk banner and fill it with 2MB of texts per sign. This lag machine was widely used in Early 2019 in the nether until Hausemaster patched it shortly after.

Using data rich banners, a chunk can be filled up and banned with around 20-30 Layers

Furnace

This brute force method somehow got under the threshold of actually fitting into a chunk, it requires 44,000 furnaces and cannot fit into (2b2t's) nether

E-chest

a slight improvement on furnaces, but a pain to build with. Ender Chests are only useful when duped on mass and are harder to grief.

Enchanting Table

First used in October of 2020 by a Ukrainian Youtuber named rockeZZergon or also known as OffeeX, who created a lag machine using enchanting tables which when turned on, is unapproachable to turn it off, meaning anyone within this lag machines chunk-banning territory would immediately be banned off the server

Black Hole

The Black Hole is a powerful lag machine which crashed 2b2t in September of 2021. The lag machine works by making 100,000 sand blocks fall though cobwebs, causing the TPS(ticks per second), to drop to 0. This lag machine was created by a 2b2t group called the Armorsmith's Followers, a group that worships the group leader, Armorsmith. Any player stuck in the chunks or load the 'blackhole' chunks will immediately have their prio queue wiped from the player's account, along with being frozen in place within the affected chunk and not being able to take damage at all, and as a final result, would crash 2b2t.

2) Book Ban

Book Banning is the act of effectively banning a player by giving them a shulker full of books, each book having maxed-out characters, or a large amount of characters. When opened, it will overflow the packet's data, and if the packets are too large, the victim will be disconnected. It is impossible to reconnect without disconnecting immediately after. Ban books are often renamed to other items to trick players.

How do you protect yourself from these bans?

Since we have talked about the different methods of banning someone from 2b2t(with visual proof), lets help you protect yourself from these bans

1) Avoid Picking up Random shulkers

The reason people are banned easily on 2b2t, is because as a new player, since you have probably no prior knowledge about the servers nature, you would normally ask for help starting out in 2b2t in chat, which is the first mistake you would have done. If you are thrown a shulker with unknown contents or a book, DO NOT PICK IT UP. Just back away from it or do /kill to escape from the players who throw you the book/shulker.

2) Empty out your Inventory

Since 2b2t is a server known for not having any rules, one of the perks in 2b2t is that there is no keep inventory on(a cheat that allows players to keep their belongings after they die). If you do come into contact with a suspicious book/shulker, you could either do /kill to clear your inventory (if you are a new player), or there are several ways for experienced players to prevent getting bookbanned:

  • One way is to first exit 2b2t and using a Minecraft is by using a Minecraft client on Mobile, (example Chatcraft on Mobile) and link your account to it so that when you join 2b2t you can do /kill on your phone
Here is a link to Chatcrafts features:

  • The second way to prevent getting bookbanned is by using a hacked client called Impact, which has a feature called Auto Eject, which automatically removed unwanted items in your inventory. You can choose to use Impact as your hacked client or not, or you can use any other hacked clients with the Auto Eject ability. Just simply log out of 2b2t and go to a singleplayer word to enable Auto Eject set to dropping shulker boxes or books and logging back on 2b2t for it to work

3) Stay Away from Suspicious Chunks

Chunk bans occur when a chunk has massive NBT data objects, such as excessive amounts of tile entities (e.g., filled books, banners, or enchanted items). If you notice any lags/suddenly disconnect after entering a new area, it could be a chunk ban trap. Do not log back in immediately—switch accounts or check coordinates using an alt.

4)Travel Cautiously & Use Alts for Exploration

  • If you’re exploring spawn or an unknown base, use an alt account first to check if it's safe.
  • Avoid teleporting to random coordinates unless you fully trust the player.

5) Keep an Escape Kit (Ender Chest)

  • Always keep an Elytra, Rockets, Pearls, and Totems to escape potential book bans or chunk bans.
  • If something seems suspicious, /kill or log out quickly before the game can process the excessive data.

Conclusion

Interestingly, most of the bans that happen in 2b2t are often by the player base, banning unwanted players most of the time, through coordinated attacks, spawn camping, and relentless harassment. In a way, the player base often acts as the justice system for some players, being kind on some and being ruthless on the others. But, 2b2t remains the same as it has always been: A server with over decades of monuments, griefs, and bases with its one very important feature, a server with no rules. Surviving 2b2t is considered a medal of honor in Minecraft.

Alright, that's all for this blog, cya all in the next one!
