If you have ever played Minecraft before, you would have heard about 2b2t. It could be from discord, from a you tube video, hell it could even be on social media. But i bet you're here to find out whether 2b2t is the oldest server, or if it is one of the oldest servers in Minecraft. Well, lets take you back to the beginning.

So just for you readers to catchup with what 2b2t is, its basically a server with literally no rules. Well, there are some rules, with exceptions being to not break the server or to bypass the queue system to get Infront of others(unless, well, you have prio). But other than that there's virtually no rules on the server. You can use hacks, grief other players without getting banned, and the there are no admins, except Hausemaster of course, who is the owner of the server.

Origins of 2b2t

2b2t( also known by its full name as 2builders 2 tools) was created in December 2010, making the server right now was over 14 years old! It was created by Hausemaster along with a friend of his (full info of the who created the server in Who really owns 2b2t?), with the server being hosted on Hausemaster's computer. In the beginning, the original Ip of 2b2t was not actually 2b2t.org, but was actually 2b2t.net.

What sets 2b2t apart from other servers as old as 2b2t is the fact that 2b2t is the first anarchy server in Minecraft, where there's no rules, no bans for griefing, no admins for rule enforcement, no world resets in all 3 realms(overworld, nether, or end) and literally everyone can use hacks or clients that can provide an unfair advantage over those who don't use hacked clients (Jesus walking on water, boat flying, etc.)

The results?

Absolute chaos and mayhem!! The server's landscape is littered with ruins, traps, monuments and a lot of signs by players over the years.

2b2t has become a testing ground for new exploits and dupes, but it has also become home to complex lore and players who were able to live in such harsh 2b2t conditions. The legacy of 2b2t is tied to its unchanged world map, which has been active since its creation. The humongous size of the map, filled with hidden bases, destroyed cities, and battlefields, is a testament to the server’s rich history.

Is 2b2t the oldest server in Minecraft?

Well, it isn't. While 2b2t may be famous for being the oldest anarchy server in Minecraft, servers such as Freedonia holds the record for being the oldest server in Minecraft, as it was made public to the community within 1 hour of Notch releasing Minecraft survival multiplayer servers for public use. The server still remains online till this day, but there are not many players on as it used to. Freedonia was created for players to experience the game together with other players around the world. But unlike 2b2t, it had many strict rules kept in place to prevent anarchy and to preserve its world.

While more vanilla servers, such as MinecraftOnline, are older, they follow more traditional server rules where the griefers get banned to maintain the fairness of gameplay. 2b2t, by comparison, is almost the complete opposite: an environment in which the world is sculpted out of player conflict and desolation, having a kind of historical value of its own.

2b2t's Specialty

So if there are older servers with low player count, what makes 2b2t so special? Why is there so many players waiting in queue for HOURS on end to join a server that's regarded and the most dangerous server on Minecraft?

Well, there are 3 things that make 2b2t stand out in contrast to other servers and old as 2b2t:

  1. Map Longevity: Most Minecraft servers reset their worlds periodically for new adventures and building opportunities to take place. However, the world of 2b2t never got reset. Its terrain is living history from over 14 years of player interaction.
  2. 2b2t is one of those few servers that took the idea of anarchy to full fruition. There are no rules, no protections, and definitely not safety for the players therein. It is a place where survival experience would be raw and untouched (We don't talk about the 2b2t rip-offs sadly).
  3. Influence on Minecraft Culture: 2b2t is legendary to all the players of Minecraft. Its chaos has inspired several documentaries, YouTube videos made by historians such as FitMc help non 2b2t players learn about the history and culture of 2b2t. Certain moments in history, where big events have taken place on the server, including the "Rusher War" in 2016-the moment YouTuber TheCampingRusher introduced a whole wave of new players-make it part of Minecraft lore.

Conclusion

So is 2b2t the oldest server in Minecraft? well sadly, that answer is No. Although it may not be the oldest server in Minecraft(Freedonia holds that record for being the oldest), it certainly is the most well known server even after 14 years due to its unique approach to gameplay, its deep and complex history, and because of its broken down and destroyed world map.

If you're looking for a server that has survived the test of time, regarding long-standing life as well as influence, then 2b2t is definitely one to check out. While it may not be first in this regard, it has definitely earned a place among the most memorable and important servers in the history of Minecraft.
